New dates and amended race format confirmed
The BRDC British F3 Championship has added an extra three-race weekend on the Donington Park National Circuit to its previously announced revised calendar. The additional date, on 24/25 October, will act as the penultimate round of this year’s 24-race championship which will take place across seven weekends in the second half of this year.
The updated schedule begins at Oulton Park on the first weekend of August where British F3 will resume its long association with the Intelligent Money British GT Championship. The latest Donington addition will give British F3 a sole headline slot of its own at a MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) meeting.
Three events will host an additional race this year to make up for the lost Spa-Francorchamps round and bring the total number of races up to the usual 24. The events at Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Snetterton have been selected to host a fourth race.
Grids for the extra race on those weekends will be decided by the average of each driver’s best two race laps from the opening three races. With the extra mileage during these events, each driver will also receive an extra set of Pirelli tyres for use during that weekend.
Giles Butterfield, MSV’s Group Operations and Engineering Manager commented: “We’ve been working very hard to overcome the obstacles thrown at us by the Covid-19 crisis, and we’re pleased that despite the obvious difficulties, we’ve been able to put together a calendar that ensures that a full package of 24 races will be run this season.
“Our teams and drivers can now set about planning ahead for what should be a busy second half of the year.”
