Radical Sportscars has announced the details of its 2021 Radical SR1 Cup, the championship that offers the best way to enter the world of competitive car racing, in purpose-built racing sportscars. The SR1 Cup welcomes anyone with a passion for motorsports, from complete novices to experienced club racers, and makes the step that much easier with full Radical factory support.

2021 series details and calendar announced
First time racers encouraged with comprehensive factory support
Ideal next step for experienced club racers
Great value with exceptional race car residuals
Opportunity to compete at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit

Now in its ninth season, the SR1 Cup is the first rung on Radical’s racing ladder. It offers the ideal entry to motorsport with full race safety equipment, reliable performance, and a full factory package of paddock event hospitality, technical support and parts supply.

For first-time racers, the Radical SR1 Cup Package truly is a turn-key solution, offering support every step of the way; it couldn’t be easier to get started in racing in one efficient package. Entrants get the car, the entry fees and everything needed to get started in wheel-to-wheel circuit racing at the best tracks the UK has to offer. Sign up and you’ll be put through an ARDS test to get your race license and even provided with a race suit, as well as benefiting from track instruction and technical training.

For those club racers looking for something faster where they can take their skills to the next level, the Radical SR1 Cup is the perfect step up. Make the switch to the SR1 Cup and on top of the benefits of factory event support and hospitality, driver coaching and data engineering is available to really help hone skills aboard the fully-adjustable Radical SR1 race car.

Offering drivers true race pedigree, the Radical SR1 was designed from the ground up for competition and can deliver lap times quicker than GT4 class cars costing up to four times as much. It’s all designed to offer an incredibly easy route to going quickly, safely, and maximizing every minute on track. In an unrivalled opportunity from this level of amateur club racing, competitors can also race at one of the world’s most famous circuits, Spa Francorchamps in Belgium, as part of the Radical Festival.

Mark Armstrong, Radical Sportscars Motorsport Manager, commented: “The Radical SR1 Cup is genuinely unique. We work hard to make the overall package as complete as possible, catering for every driver and team’s needs. Crucially, the Radical SR1 is at the heart of the Cup’s appeal. The car looks like a serious racer but it is a genuinely authentic and accessible entry point to sportscar racing, teaching drivers the skills simply not possible to gain in other series, all for a remarkably competitive budget. As the starting rung on the Radical racing ladder, you get a series of Saturday race events featuring a 20-minute qualifying session and two 20-minute sprint races, and with factory support that includes track instruction and ensuring absolute reliability with technical support always on hand, we help our drivers get maximum value from every available minute on track.

“For us, it’s been really important to make sure the series promotes driver development. From the very beginning, we want to see our drivers progress, and so the format of our race weekends is very much aimed at this and flexibility in terms of budget too. The SR1 Cup provides competitive, safe and respectful racing, and drivers also have the chance to compete in mixed class racing on the same weekends, gaining further experience in mixed class competition. By also joining the Challenge endurance programme on Sundays, SR1 racers can get more race time, a taste of the Radical Challenge enduro with its pit-stop format, or the option of a complete series of Sunday races by joining the Club Enduro Cup field. There’s a Radical race series for everyone.”

As well as offering significant race event track time and visiting some of the UK’s best circuits, the SR1 Cup is also competitive on long term value too with the SR1 boasting some of the best race car residual values – a factor often overlooked when considering racing costs and budget over a season.
