Historic Daytona win for Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris

in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge

Romeo Ferraris celebrates the historic success of its Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR at Daytona, in the 4-hour race that opened the 2022 season of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Roy Block and Tim Lewis, drivers of the KMW Motorsports team with TMR Engineering, have taken the TCR class win in the legendary Florida track, showing the great potential of the Italian car since the first practice sessions.

Argentine Block and the American Lewis took the third position on the grid, after an excellent qualifying that took place in conditions of mixed grip, and in the race, they always battled in the leading group. With about thirty minutes to go, Lewis took the lead for good, crossing the line nine and a half seconds ahead of his main pursuer.

An impeccable performance by the entire team, in terms of driving, strategy and pit stops, found the right reward. The very high level of reliability of the Giulietta Veloce TCR number 5 was also decisive, allowing Lewis and Block to race without problems or wasting time in the pits.

This is the third triumph in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris, after those of the Block-Lewis duo in 2021 at Road America and Road Atlanta. The cooperation between KMW Motorsports, TMR Engineering and Romeo Ferraris, initiated in 2019 and characterized since then by a constant growth in competitiveness, led to starting the 2022 championship in the best possible way.

The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge stage includes a total of 10 rounds, with the next stop scheduled on the weekend of 16-19 March in Sebring.

Michela Cerruti, Team Principal Romeo Ferraris
"We are really excited about this success achieved by the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR on the Daytona track, a very special place in motor racing. Along with the victories in the FIA WTCR World Touring Car Cup, this is probably among the highest moments of our project. Together with the KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering team we have been working splendidly since 2019, bringing to the track an increasingly competitive package: we hope that the fruits of our joint commitment will allow Roy Block and Tim Lewis to fight up to the end for the IMSA title Michelin Pilot Challenge. I also want to applaud Robert Wickens, who more than three years after his accident in IndyCar, was back to racing in this event, showing great determination and an unchanged passion for motorsport. At Daytona he was one of our rivals, but above all an example for everyone ".
