Absolute Racing to debut in ELMS with Andrew Haryanto

Absolute Racing will make its debut in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) GTE class in 2022 with Indonesian driver Andrew Haryanto.

Last year, Absolute Racing rounded out its maiden Le Mans 24 Hours in GTE-Am seventh place, accumulating precious experience in the world’s most gruelling endurance race. Absolute Racing's 2021 programmes with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customers in China will continue this season, as will the team's Southeast Asia operations and international expansion. The ELMS operation will be run together with Proton Competition.

Absolute Racing is also delighted to return to the GTE class with its "rubber ducks” striking livery Porsche 911 RSR-19, capturing the true spirit of the team, and sending a message in support of those fighting against discrimination across the world - #OneWorldOneRace.

The 2022 ELMS will be held over six rounds each featuring a 4-Hour race across Europe: France, Italy, Hungary, Spain, Belgium, and Portugal. The season gets underway on 17th April with the opening race in Le Castellet, France.

The team will announce the full driver line up soon.

Andrew Haryanto (Absolute Racing - Driver): “I am very happy to drive in the European Le Mans Series with Absolute Racing. It’s a new challenge for all of us, and we’re under no illusions as to how hard the ELMS will be. However, we’re confident we will be competitive from the start and deliver results. We compete to win and we work hard to achieve this objective.”

Ingo Matter (Absolute Racing - Team Director): “We are really happy to be competing in the ELMS this season. We are not underestimating the challenge ahead of us, but given last year's performance at the Le Mans 24 Hours race, I am confident that we are up to the task. For an Asian team like ours, going to Europe for a full season of racing is a significant milestone. We are pleased that we will be able to do so in the prestigious ELMS organised by our good friends at the ACO. Being back competing with the RSR and expanding our partnership with Proton Competition after three races together last year should result in some success.”

Alexandre Gibot (Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd - Managing Director): “I’m delighted to see Absolute Racing and Andrew Haryanto enter the European Le Mans Series in 2022. The team put in a great performance last year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so a full-time entry into ELMS makes perfect sense. Andrew is an experienced and talented driver and I’m excited to see what he and Absolute Racing are capable of this season.”
