M5 collection storms ahead at CCA

Classic Car Auctions (CCA) welcomed a record number of buyers to its first sale at its brand new venue, The Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on Saturday 6th June, where nearly £420,000 worth of cars were successfully hammered away.

In the 30th anniversary of the iconic super saloon, an amazing collection of seven BMW M5s from almost every era delighted enthusiasts and all sold for fantastic prices. Topping the collection was a 2010 E60 M5. Number seven of just 25 made to celebrate the cars 25th anniversary, the rare model sold for £26,500 including premium.

Well cared for and well presented, and proving the appeal of a no reserve car, a 1987 E28 M5 was snapped up for £19,610. An E34 M5 Saloon sold for £6,360 whilst a rare E34 M5 Touring, one of just 891 cars produced, sold for £6,148.

But it wasn’t just M5s that had bidders excited. Hard fought over by buyers in the room, online and on international phone lines, an original UK 1992 Lanica Delta Integrale Evo sailed past its lower estimate by more than £7,000, eventually selling for £22,790 including premium. Another original UK, right-hand drive Italian car, a 1975 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce, also sold for a significant price, £11,872, more than £4,000 over its lower estimate.

One of the star cars of the sale, a professionally restored 1962 Triumph TR4, also found a new home. The car had only covered 51,000 miles during its pampered lifetime and the quality of its care and restoration was clearly visible to buyers as it sold for £18,232, more than £2,000 over its lower estimate.

Speaking after the sale, general manager of CCA, Guy Lees Milne, said: “It’s been great to welcome so many new buyers to our new venue and new Saturday sales. We now look forward to our sale at CarFest which promises to a fantastic event.”

CCA’s next sale takes place at Chris Evans’ CarFest South on August 29th, supporting BBC Children in Need. The very special sale will feature around 100 cars, with celebrity auctioneers and some amazing charity lots where 100 per cent of the hammer price plus fees will be donated to charity. Entries are now being invited into the sale so those looking to sell are advised to get in touch soon.
