Britains Michael Lyons produced a series of star performances at the prestigious Silverstone Classic over the weekend, 27th/28th July, with no less than four race victoriesthe highlight being a double success in the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship.As well as the two F1 wins, taken at the wheel of a stunning RAM Williams FW07, the 22-year-old from Felsted in Essex also claimed dominant victories in both of the events Peter Gethin Trophy encounters, driving a Formula 5000 Lola T400.

The one frustrating aspect of the race meeting for Michael, which was attended by a crowd of almost 90,000 spectators, was the chance to make it a clean-sweep of wins from the five races he entered. Teaming with classic car enthusiast Mike Wrigley in his Chevron B16 for the FIA Masters Historic Sports Car race, a likely class victory went begging when the head gasket failed.Its been a fantastic weekend, four poles and four wins isnt bad at allwe were unlucky during last years event so its nice to come back and complete unfinished business, said Michael, We had a little bit of bad luck with Mikes Chevron in the Sports Car race when the head gasket went but, other than that, everything else went faultlessly. The F1 was perfect and so was the F5000.Saturday was incredibly busy, there was a great crowd, and Sir Jackie Stewart and the Duke of Kent were there presenting trophies which really shows the scale of the event. Its been great to be a part of the Silverstone Classic again, and nice to take away so many trophies!After claiming pole position for the opening FIA Masters Historic Formula One encounter by a huge two second margin, Michael annihilated the opposition in the race itself to take victory by more than 20 seconds. In Sundays race, which was interrupted by a Safety Car period early on, his winning margin was an even more impressive 25 seconds around the 3.66-mile Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.Unsurprisingly, the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) Rising Star comfortably posted the fastest lap in both outings with times of 1m53.861 seconds (115.06mph) in the first race and 1m53.993 seconds (114.93mph) in the second encounter.In the Peter Gethin Trophy, he claimed pole position for the first race by a truly remarkable five second cushionthe only driver in the field to lap below the two minute mark, and by some margin as welland he went on to dominate the 11 lap encounter, winning by almost 32 seconds.

Race two marked the final track action of the Silverstone Classic weekend and Michael was again in a league of his own, winning by 35 seconds. Setting the fastest lap of 1m57.760 seconds (111.25mph), the time was just 0.1 seconds shy of his race one best.His parents, Frank and Judy Lyons, also took part in the FIA Masters Historic Formula One races with Frank, driving a Hesketh 308E, placing sixth and fifth in class. Mum Judy, meanwhile, was third and fourth in her class at the wheel of a Surtees TS9.The next outing for the Lyons Racing team will be a visit to the Nurburgring in Germany over the weekend 10th/11th August. As far as Michaels contemporary racing commitments go in the International GT Open, he will be back behind the wheel of his AF Corse-run Ferrari 458 Italia on 7th/8th September at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
