Honda Zytek dominates Super GT 300 class at Sugo Race

The Honda Zytek ERS (Energy Recovery System) achieved its second win in the Super GT 300 class at Sugo Race this weekend. The ARTA CR-Z GT Hybrid delivered an excellent performance in front of over 25,000 Japanese motorsport fans, overcoming difficult course conditions to finish first in the SGT300 class, ahead of the synonymous Team Mugen CR-Z GT Hybrid, which finished in second place.The astonishing result for both cars brought a consecutive 1-2 finish to Zytek and Honda, following the victory at Sepang International circuit.In Saturdays SGT300 qualifying, the two Honda CR-Z GT Hybrids of ARTA and Team Mugen achieved second and third positions respectively, both CR-Zs running the Zytek EGS gearshift in unison with the ERS Hybrid system.The Sugo GT 300km Race started under high sun and typical Japanese summer conditions. However, sudden intensive rain turned it into a strategic battle with many teams struggling with tyre choice. The two Honda CR-Z GT Hybrids managed to control tyre conditions and powered home in this difficult race with a 1-2 finish. Shinichi Takagi and Takashi Kobayashi brought the number 55 CR-Z home to its second consecutive win in spite of carrying 40kg of result ballast with the number 16 of Hideki Mutoh and Yuhki Nakayama following in second place, overcoming 68kg of results ballast.Team Mugens 49 points, put it in the lead of the GT300 championship with ARTA chasing its rival Hybrid car and holding second place with 40 points.The next Super GT race, the fifth round of the championship, is a 1000km, 6-hours endurance challenge, which will be run at the Suzuka Circuit, Mie prefecture on 18 August.
