Historics at Brooklands Porsche parade

The Stuttgart marque features strongly at Historics late summer sale in Surrey on August 31st.

With Porsche celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 911 this year, its fitting that specialist classic car auctioneer, Historics at Brooklands, has assembled a vibrant nine-strong showcase of the air-cooled marque, from 1970 to 1991, for its forthcoming sale at Brooklands Museum on August 31.

Vigorous bidding at the last quarterly sales saw a clean sweep of nine of the Stuttgart marque finding new owners. Then, as now, Historics very own Porsche parade included models which have been meticulously-restored and exquisitely presented in the guise of the most special of 911s to many a purist the 1973 2.7RS.

Edward Bridger-Stille, Historics Auction Director, commented: In the long evolution of the Porsche 911, the 2.7RS model is one of the most valued by collectors, and its value has soared as steeply as the slope of its characteristic ducktail rear spoiler!

This model is well beyond the pocket of most enthusiasts, which is the reason why Historics is witnessing a strong market for newer 911 models that are professionally equipped with bodywork, wheels and detailing exactly that of the 2.7RS.

Illustrating the point, Historics is offering three such models at its August 31st auction, including a brace of 1984/1985 3.2 litre Carreras (one to 1973 RS Martini specification) estimated at 26,000-32,000, and a 1991 3.6 litre Carrera 2 (Est 28,000-35,000), all faithfully presented with the distinctive 2.7RS look.

The Porsche Rennsport theme is carried through at Historics sale to a model thats evocative of the development of the RS model, namely a 1975 Porsche 911 RSR recreation, that has been enjoyed by just two owners over the past 31 years and is superbly prepared for fast road use. Estimate: 20,000-28,000

A Porsche 911E of 1971 in its original red coachwork is sure to attract significant attention too.  This increasingly collectable left-hand drive example, first registered in the USA, features extensive history and has been immensely well cared for. Estimate: 26,000-34,000.

Other Porsche models on the consignment list for the August 31st sale include:

1970 Porsche 911T: Est: 20,000-25,000
