Fun, Fashion and Festival Fever at Fabulous Croft Nostalgia Weekend

Croft Circuit’s fifth annual Nostalgia Weekend (2-3 August) promises to be a fun-filled feast of entertainment for young and old alike – with as much going on away from the circuit as on it.Complementing a packed programme of 18 races featuring some of the most iconic cars ever produced and static collections of exotic automobilia, Croft will fully embrace its retro-flavoured theme at the BARC and HSCC-run Nostalgia Weekend, delivering a plethora of family-friendly activities to tempt the senses.Chief amongst the off-track interest will be the popular Fashion Show, celebrating ‘Fashion Through the Eras’ and to be held in the main marquee at 14:00 on Sunday, 3 August.Organised by sisters Amy and Lucy Scorer, the show will display an array of fashion trends from the glamour of the roaring ‘20s to the outrageous ‘70s punk scene, passing through the fun-loving ‘50s and swinging ‘60s and offering a rare chance to reminisce over the culture and colours of yesteryear. Spectators are encouraged to embrace the vibrant retro atmosphere by attending in period dress themselves.What’s more, in a Nostalgia Weekend first, Carnival Fun Fairs will bring along three traditional village green fairground rides on Sunday, 3 August – including the delightful Olde Tyme Swing Boats.Exhibitors will also showcase a range of beautiful items inspired by the decades during and immediately after the war, ranging from classic cars and diecast toys to vintage jewellery, retro clothing and chic artisan collectables – giving visitors a unique shopping experience. Face-painting and ‘40s-style makeover and hairdo opportunities are amongst the other exciting attractions – and if all of that has you working up an appetite, then the delicious cream teas on offer are an absolute must. Much-loved music from days gone by completes the picture.Nostalgia Weekend co-ordinator Alice C. I’Anson Widdows reflects that the event holds an appeal extending far beyond motor sport’s traditional petrol-head audience.“Since it came into being in 2010, the Croft Nostalgia Weekend has staked its place as one of the social events on the North East calendar,” she explained, “and it is growing year-upon-year. Its fifth edition looks certain to be the biggest and best yet.“There really is something for everyone – from fast cars to classic automotive memorabilia, evocative music and fabulous fashion.
