10th Anniversary of Credit Suisse Classic Car Program
Introduced in 2004, the Credit Suisse Classic Car Program has become immensely popular. Over the past decade, Credit Suisse has built a network of friends and enthusiasts who share a passion for classic cars. Its partnership of outstanding classic events, including its own rallies and its collection of historic vehicles, underline Credit Suisse’s commitment to the classic car scene.
Throughout 2014 Credit Suisse is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Classic Car Program internationally by passionately supporting and participating in some of the leading historic motoring events: During the 2014 Grand Prix de Monaco Historique in May (9-11) Credit Suisse again built the Drivers Club as a “Chalet Suisse” and presented the 4th Credit Suisse Historic Racing Forum to the press, along with the launch of the Credit Suisse Photo Contest for accredited photographers. At the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance weekend in August (14-17) Credit Suisse guests participated in the Tour d’Elegance and the Concours on Sunday, and Credit Suisse became partner of the newly launched “Pebble Beach Classic Car Forum.”
At the forthcoming Goodwood Revival in September (12-14) another full program of activities is planned, including the 5th Credit Suisse Historic Racing Forum as one of the highlights offered in the restored Credit Suisse Race Control building, plus the continuation of the Credit Suisse Photo Contest for professional accredited media.Credit Suisse Race Control at Goodwood Revival
In March 2013, Credit Suisse extended its commitment to Goodwood for a further seven years, including the title-sponsorship of the historic Race Control building at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Following this partnership extension, the building underwent an extensive restoration to combine premium contemporary interiors with the period character features that are in keeping with the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Credit Suisse Race Control was opened by Lord March and Sir Stirling Moss at the Goodwood Revival 2013.
Race Control was originally a wartime airfield building, before being adopted as a circuit office in 1948 when the motor circuit was launched. The top floor of the building was later added to enhance the view around the circuit, and to accommodate timekeepers, the circuit telephone system, and race control personnel. It was from Race Control that Goodwood’s most challenging races were managed, including the nine-hour day into night races in 1952, 1953, and 1955, followed by the three-hour TT races from 1958 to 1964.
Much of Britain’s motor racing history was written in Race Control, where the emotions of key moments in British motorsport played out. Any motor racing circuit has at its heart its Race Control, and thanks to Credit Suisse the one at Goodwood survives today as one of the world’s longest serving, best preserved, and most iconic of them all.
