The Model – Chevrolet comprehensively redesigned and reengineered the Corvette with the introduction of the all-new Sting Ray model of 1963.  There was little doubt that the new Corvette would be a successful race car; the engines were larger, and the brakes were better than all preceding Corvettes, and for the first time the car was offered with an independent rear suspension.  All previous inline six cylinder engines, and 283 V-8s, were replaced with a comprehensive line of 327 cubic inch Small-Blocks ranging from 250 horsepower to 365 hp in the top of the line Fuel Injection model.  Corvettes faced considerable competition from Shelby’s Cobras, Jaguar’s E-Type and Ford’s new Mustang, yet the Corvette flew Chevrolet’s flag high and with honor, winning countless races, and series championships around the country.  This particular era Corvette has since been nicknamed the “Mid Years”, and was produced from 1963 through 1967.

The Car -  This original 365 horse "Fuelie" Vette was bought new in Richardson, Texas by the original owner, Bill Jobe, and immediately began a life in autocross racing in which it competed for approximately four years.  Then Bill Jobe built the car into a stout SCCA B-Production spec car, and raced with considerable success from 1969-1972, competing in 26 races, earning a record of 18 first, 5 second and 3 third place finishes with no DNFs - an enviable record for any big time race car.  It was later bumped up to the GT1 category before retiring from front line SCCA competition.  The original TRACO Chevy has been freshly rebuilt, with a clean-up bore modestly increasing its displacement, with a current estimated output of 375-400 horsepower.  The rest of the car has also been mechanically freshened and is vintage race ready, running complete instrumentation and a late 60s period style roll bar.  The car's eye-popping "Wild Willie" paint job, and its considerable on- track speed long ago earned it the nickname "Supernova" Corvette.View the lots at http://motostalgia.com/the-cars/
