The New 599 GTO would largely be based on the prototype track car, the 599XX, and at the time would represent Ferrari’s fastest road rocket to date. While the lines of the GTO are subtle compared to the reigning champ, the Enzo, its performance on the road and track would not only meet but surpass the other V12 Pony. Despite a faster lap time at Fiorano Circuit, a 3.1 second zero to sixty time and a 200 mph plus top speed, the GTOs true achievement was its ability continue to serve as a proper road car. To transform the GTB into what Ferrari called the “most extreme sports car” that it had ever produced, they tweaked and tuned the already stout Tipo F140C V12 until they had fully extracted 661 HP. Carbon ceramic brakes coupled for the first time with Brembo’s new ceramic pads were added to pull back the reigns on the GTO, making stopping power equally as impressive as its ability to jump of the line. To put all of the upgraded mechanicals to good use, the GTO’s contact patch was widened to 285 in the front and it would wear and enormous 315 in the rear. When the First 599 GTO rolled out the door it was truly reminiscent of the GTOs of yesteryear. They had given us a lightning fast, front engine aluminum V12, properly balanced, and acoustically delightful, two seater that even sports the iconic aero aid the “nolder”. Attaching the namesake of classics is often met with trepidation, but the GTO moniker feels quite at home on the 599 GTO. With enough room for golf clubs in the trunk, this is truly the top of the GT market, and perhaps one of the most usable supercars ever produced.

The Car: Even finished in Rossa Corsa you don’t need to be an expert to tell this is not your typical red Ferrari. The finish is showroom perfect, just the way you would expect a car with 85 miles. The interior is also fresh and scarcely sat in. The fit and finish inside is exquisite with black alcantara trimming the dark red seats. Kept in a collection that befits a car of this caliber, all necessary maintenance has been done making this a road ready ride, but keep in mind this GTO is basically new, and should be considered a perfect snag for anyone speculating on collectible Ferraris.
