Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or this weekend

EXCEPTIONAL CARS FAMOUS DRIVERS!This year Peter Auto is bringing nine grids to the 52nd Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or on 3-4-5 June on the Dijon-Prènois circuit. In 2015, the Classic Endurance Racing, Sixties’ Endurance, Heritage Touring Cup, Trofeo Nastro Rosso and U2TC fields thrilled the public and they will be back again this year joined by three new grids: Group C with 25 cars, which embody the golden age of the Sports Car World Championship in endurance racing, including Porsche 962s, a Jaguar XJR and Peugeot 905s. The Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or is the final rehearsal for these incredible machines before they make their debut at Le Mans Classic on 8-9-10 July for the first time.Another innovation is the Legend Trophy (sponsored by the Departmental Council) with around 20 pre-war racing cars: Alfa Romeo 8Cs, Aston Martins, Bugatti 35 and 37s, Delahaye 135Ss, a Maserati 8CM, Rileys and Lago Talbots. Formula Junior, the last step on the ladder to Formula 1 in the early 1960s, is also making its return. In all, nine grids representing almost 280 racing cars will take to the track from Friday until Sunday evening for a total of ten-and-a-half hours racing (practice not included).Among the famous drivers is Gérard Larrousse. The two-time Le Mans 24-Hours winner in 1973 and 1974 with Matra, former Renault Sport Competitions manager in rallying, sports prototypes and Formula 1 before becoming the Ligier team manager after which he set up his own team, will race in the Sixties Endurance at the wheel of a Porsche 550A that he will share with Jean-Philippe Grand (also a former racing driver and team manager). And then there’s Michel Lecourt/Raymond Narac, regulars in the professional milieu, multiple winners in the GT category in different championships and the Le Mans 24 Hours who will be gunning for victory in CER 1 (GT1).

On this same grid is another Le Mans 24 Hours GT category winner, Ralf Kelleners from Germany, who will defend his chances in a De Tomaso Pantera. Among the other drivers expected is British star, Steve Soper, who shone in touring car championships in England and Germany; he will add excitement to the U2TC field with his Lotus Ford Cortina.
