JD Classics – one of the world’s leading classic car restoration and racing specialists – is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Le Mans Classic 2016. Held every two years, the Classic brings Le Mans history to life, as racers and cars of the past take to the celebrated Circuit de la Sarthe for three scintillating days of vintage car action.

JD Classics will be both sponsor and competitor at Le Mans Classic, as it lines up six exhilarating models, including the Costin Lister, Lister Knobbly, Lotus Elite, Jaguar XK120 and Austin Healey 100S. But it’s the ex-Fangio Jaguar C-Type that could well grab most of the limelight.

Fresh from a stunning victory at the Monaco Historique, where it became the first ever car to take three wins in a row at the event, the C-Type is one of the most successful historic racing cars of all time, and is chasing its 25th award in 28 races at the Classic.

JD Classics will also be providing hospitality to invited guests and clients in its VIP suite situated directly above the pitlane. What’s more, the Maldon-based classic car specialist will be showcasing its 1956 Fiat Series #306/2 Bartoletti Grand Prix Transporter, which starred alongside Steve McQueen in the 1971 hit film Le Mans.

The Le Mans Classic has become the perfect complement to the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, with hundreds of thousands of spectators flocking to the province of Maine for a glimpse of some of the most recognisable race cars dating all the way back to the 1920s.

Competitors are split into six categories, from memorable models that reigned supreme before 1939 through to the hugely powerful Le Mans legends of the 1970s, and JD Classics is looking to reap race glory in various classes.

Derek Hood, JD Classics Managing Director, said: “We’ve got a long and successful history at Le Mans Classic, so it’s a huge privilege for us to be official sponsors of the event this year. We know that we’ve got some of the best technical experts in the business working on our cars, so at Le Mans we’re looking forward to showing our invited VIPs – and the rest of the classic racing world – exactly what we’re capable of.”
