Historics at Brooklands reveals superclassic icons at Classic and Sports Car Show

An exquisite array of classic car icons - all with a fascinating story to tell – are the highlights of Historics at Brooklands display on Stand G215 at the Classic & Sports Car Show at Alexandra Palace, which opens tomorrow, Friday 28th October and carries on through the weekend, 29th/30th

Warming up for its major Winter sale of 130 fine classics on Saturday, November 26th at Mercedes–Benz World, Brooklands, classic car auction specialist Historics will be removing the wraps at the show from six very varied 'superclassic' consignments, all of which are sure to attract significant interest both at the show and on auction day.

The undoubted star on the performance stakes is the ultra-rare – one of just 40 – righthand drive 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG classics. With just 9,900 warranted miles, this superbly-presented motor car – surely one of the most thrilling AMG models of all time – features a 5.5 litre supercharged V8 developing a blistering 574bhp, sufficient to propel it to its limited maximum of 199mph. A very sound investment opportunity at £210,000-£250,000.

Porsche aficionados will also be pouring over the immaculate 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Targa that has covered just 302 miles since being completely disassembled down to the last nut and bolt by an Official Porsche Centre. Every component was then inspected, refurbished or replaced with a genuine Porsche part - before being meticulously re-built by the Porsche Centre to superlative, as-new condition. There is surely no finer example to acquire in the world. Est: £64,000-£85,000.

Classic Jaguar enthusiasts won't be disappointed to inspect closely a magnificent 1960 Jaguar XK150 SE Drophead Coupé on the stand. Rising from a sorely neglected barn find in the USA, it has been treated to an immensely thorough, complete nut and bolt restoration, bare metal respray and new leather interior to the original factory colours, returning this thoroughly British icon to its original glory. Est: £90,000-£110,000

Remaining with British marques, albeit on a smaller but no less significant scale, a 50-year old 1966 Mk.1 Austin Mini Cooper 'S' 1275 will strike a cheeky note, magnificently presented in the familiar factory colour scheme of Old English White with a contrasting black roof. Scrupulously restored over two years, this is a tremendous and rare opportunity to acquire an original Mk 1 Cooper 'S' in wonderful condition. Est: £38,000-£50,000.

Historics at Brooklands is well-known for its very varied range of consignments at all its major auctions and so it will come as little surprise to see a further head-turner at the show, in the shape of a 1961 Bedford J0 Pick-up. The vendor's passionate intent was to present the best example of this vehicle to be found anywhere in the world. After five years of meticulous work, the end result, featuring supreme silver coachwork that would not look out of place on a Rolls-Royce and a Wilton-carpeted, red leather interior, is testimony to his commitment and success. Est: £48,000-£56,000

Historics welcomes all enthusiasts to the stand G215 and is offering free valuation to all classic owners throughout the show. Visit http://www.historics.co.uk to view all 130 consignments for the forthcoming Historics sale on November 26th.
