Highly Original Example of BMW’s Desirable M3 Lightweight

In 1995, BMW responded to American customer demand by building a special track-oriented version of the esteemed E36-series M3. The resulting M3 Lightweight shaved 225 pounds from the standard version by integrating aluminum doors, cloth sport seats with manual adjustment, and removing all sound deadeners and comfort equipment including the radio and air-conditioning. The model also featured stiffer springs, front and rear spoilers, and an individually selected engine. The dynamics of the new model were markedly improved over the standard M3, with both acceleration and cornering benefiting from the lighter weight.

Sold new by Foreign Motors of Natick, Massachusetts, this M3 is one of just 126 M3 Lightweights built, and a particularly pristine example. Displaying less than 22,300 miles at the time of cataloguing, this M3 Lightweight shows incredibly well in its Alpine White paint with BMW motor sports flag decals, the only livery offered on this model. Documented with its original window sticker and a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, the M3 is accompanied by its manuals and a binder of service records. The front of the BMW has been treated with a layer of 3M clear bra to protect its finish. Offering limited production and the distinction of a factory Lightweight special, this is easily one of BMW’s most collectible models. This minimally used and desirably original Lightweight would make a fantastic addition to anyone’s garage.
