Motors TV goes east

Motors TV will be the exclusive pan-European broadcaster for the “Transorientale”, the brand-new rally-raid created by René Metge, which will link St Petersburg and Beijing next June

The ‘High Speed Television’ channel will widely open its airtime to this premiere, with a daily 26 minutes highlights show and, starting in the next few days, a series of short programmes that will give an advance flavour of the scenery that competitors will fight in. Motors TV will also modify its logo during the event, in order to enhance the “Transorientale” visual feeling.

Motors TV’s Head of Programming & Acquisitions, Frédéric Viger: “We’re looking forward to what will be a great human adventure, a real challenge for the rally competitors but also for us, as it’s the first time we’ll be covering such a long event on a daily basis.

Our aim, in addition to the sports side that will obviously be essential, is to enable our audience to dream, especially with what promises to be wonderful scenery. While Africa sadly has had to pay a huge price to terrorism with the Dakar cancellation, the “Transorientale” will be an occasion to discover China just a few weeks before the start of the Olympic Games, and we’re confident that the future of rally-raids is also there!”

Transorientale organizer, René Metge: “The “Transorientale” 2008 is an outstanding competition and an extraordinary journey through the heart of Asia. I am delighted with Motors TV’s participation in this superb adventure. Thanks to daily reporting, viewers will be able to share all of the competitors emotions as they brave more than 10,000 km of roads and tracks, cross incredible, varied landscapes, and meet people and experience cultures, memories of which will undoubtedly stay with them for a lifetime!”

10 000 kilometres, 17 days, 3 countries…The “Transorientale” will start on Thursday June 12th from St Petersburg, and finish in Beijing on Saturday June 28th.

More details about the exact programming will be revealed in the next few weeks.

Motors TV’s agreement on the “Transorientale” was concluded with IEC in Sports, the Swedish-based sports marketing company handling international distribution for this prestigious rally.
