Behind the 2008 GP2 Asia Series Winner, Luca Filippi from Qi-Meritus Mahara signed a good time in a 1:42.069, closely followed by Kamui Kobayashi on Dams, Karun Chandhok on iSport International and Vitaly Petrov at the wheel of his Barwa International Campos Team.
The Japanese and the Russian both need a strong performance at the Dubai Autodrome should they want to claim the 2nd place in the Championship.
Not too far away from them, Adrian Valles – who can also finish in the Top 3 on Sunday – signed the 6 th fastest time in his FMS car, in front of Jason Tahinci, earning his best performance of the season so far at the wheel of his BCN Competicion car. Next are Durango’s Davide Valsecchi, Trust Team Arden’s Sébastien Buemi and Hiroki Yoshimoto, Filippi’s teammate. The Swiss driver currently stands 3 rd in the drivers’ championship. His closest rivals, Fairuz Fauzy and Bruno Senna,both failed to enter the Top 10 this morning.
