Euroseries 3000 Race 1

Win for Fabio Onidi /GP Racing

The first race for the Euroseries 3000 championship took place yesterday at Vallelunga with the first win going to the young Italian driver, Fabio Onidi, for GP Racing driver.

Second place went to his team mate Roldan Rodriguez, ahead of Nicolas Prost (Cerveza Sol – ELK Motorsport).

Roldan Rodriguez took the early lead  followed by his team mate Fabio Onidi. A bad start forced Nicolas Prost to third place, followed by Durango driver Omar Leal, Luiz Razia and Fabio Beretta with the Lola B02/50 of Team ELK Motorsport.

Fabio Onidi then managed to overtake and led to the end of the race. Good race also for the young Matteo Cozzari for the Emilio De Villota Motorsport team, who overtook Francesco Dracone at the start moving up to seventh place and the first two points for the championship.

Health problems for Estonian driver Marko Asmer meant that he didn’t take the start

Fabio Onidi“Of corse I’m very happy. First race and first win despite the third time in qualifying. I manager to get a good start overtaking immediately Nicolas Prost and at the first turn I tried the overtaking on Roldan. Then I just managed the race and the win arrived.”

Roldan Rodriguez“The race was good. I managed to get a good start, even if Fabio was faster and overtook me at turn 1. Unfortunately the weight difference was important. I’m satisfied anyway and congratulations to Fabio. “

Nicolas Prost“I didn’t have a good start and given I was slower than the top 2 I preferred not to take any risk and to stay third. Now let’s see what happens in race 2.”
