MacLeod set for Carrera Cup

Rising single-seater star Callum MacLeod will join the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for rounds five and six of the season at Donington Park this weekend (3/4 May). As one of the six finalists from the McLaren/Autosport/BRDC Young Driver of the Year award, MacLeod will race the 911GT3 Cup car entered by PCGB and is looking forward to the chance to make his sports car racing debut. The 20-year old dominated the 2007 British Formula Ford Championship and is working to conclude a deal to step up into Formula 3. However, the Carrera Cup weekend at Donington will be his first competitive outing of the 2008 season."I thoroughly enjoyed driving the Porsche during the evaluation for the young driver awards and I think I got on pretty well with the car," said MacLeod. "I've just got to get out there and do as well as I can and I'd like to think that I can run near the sharp end of the grid."Although Formula 3 remains his prime target for the balance of 2008 and 2009, MacLeod is also keen to broaden his race experience as far as possible. "I wouldn’t rule out some more Carrera Cup races; I absolutely can't wait to get out there," he said.
