MSA British Hillclimb Championship

Nicholson McLaren Aviation MSA British Hillclimb Championship

Rounds 3, 4, 5 & 6 - 10/11 May

In the toughest weekend of the year, the Championship competitors faced four rounds in two days. First up was the fellside short dash at a slightly hazy and sometimes damp Barbon Manor in Cumbria where it was tit-for-tat between Martin Groves and Scott Moran. Each gathered a win and a second place but as the track dried in late afternoon Moran also took a bonus point for beating the outright hill record on the last run of the day with a sensational 20.50 second shot in the final run of the day.

A day later but with added sunshine over on the other side of the Pennines and there was a very different result for Martin Groves who scored a second place but then hit fuel pressure problems that also affected his co-driver Paul Ranson. Despite this highly visible failure, Groves still netted 28 points from the weekend, but for Scott Moran it was two further victories to cement his series lead.
