Hodgetts wins in Carrera Cup at Croft

Stefan Hodgetts joined an elite list of drivers to have scored race wins in the VIP entry in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB when he won round ten at Croft (1 June).Without a regular drive in Britain this season, Hodgetts was invited to race the PCGB entry in the pro category for the pair of races at the North Yorkshire track and seized the opportunity to remind everyone of his natural ability. The 25-year old racer from Redditch finished second to Tim Bridgman in the opening race of the weekend, but then went one better to win round ten after making the right call on tyre choice on the fast-drying track. "I knew pretty much straightaway that we needed slicks," said Hodgetts.Starting from the pit lane with six other drivers, he quickly moved through to the lead and scored an impressive victory in front of live TV cameras from ITV4. Hodgetts is now hoping that his performance will help him join the Carrera Cup on a permanent basis."I'm just hoping the phone rings," he said after the race. "I really just want to be involved in the Carrera Cup; the cars are just fantastic to drive. I've never felt better!"Others drivers to have won Carrera Cup races while racing the VIP entry are Tim Harvey, Damien Faulkner, Patrick Long, Alain Menu and Andrew Kirkaldy.
