Avila aims for first overall victory

Having finished in the podium three times in the inaugural round last month, Macanese driver Rodolfo Avila is back to action in this weekend’s Asia Supercar Challenge (ASCC) rounds in Sepang, Malaysia.

After a storming championship start Avila wants to keep his momentum in the second event of the season. The #20 Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge showed his natural speed last time in Malaysia finishing twice in 2nd and once in 3rd. Following the three first races of the 2008 series, Avila is leading Class-A points and he is in privilege position to fight for the championship victory.

Reflecting ahead of the next weekend event Avila said “I’m really excited about returning to Sepang, but I’m under no illusions about how difficult it is going to be. This time I’d like to win overall and I know I can make it. Well, we'll see what's possible. Mastercar have a very good car setup for Sepang, and it should be easier to find the limit again.”

The 21-years old from Macau welcomed the most recent add to the Macau GP program. ASCC’s extra event Macau GT Cup will be 10-lap invitational race for popular Grand Touring racing cars. Thirty six of these impressive machines will line up on the grid to take the start on the Sunday of the Grand Prix week. “That’s a very good new for the event but at the moment I am just focus on getting the ASCC crown for Macau. Macau GP will be a different story”, said the driver supported by Macau Government, Macau-slot.com, BNU, TsingTao, Fat Siu Lau Restaurant, and Sujika Crafts.

The second ASCC round at Sepang kicks off on 20th June for Free Practice and Qualifying. The Race 1 takes place on Saturday 21st June and the Race 2 on Sunday 22nd June.
