Kimi British GP Preview

Like going home

I have always such a good feeling while going to Silverstone. It's a great place to race. Somehow it has been a good circuit for me since the very beginning. I racedtheir first time with Formula Renault and it was my real favourite, because it's so fast and demanding.

When you win in Silverstone, it gives such a pleasure. You have to get everything exactly right. I won there with Formula Renault and last year I won there with Ferrari.

It does help when you race at a circuit before reaching F1. Silverstone is one of the fastest circuits on the calendar and very challenging, especially in a F1 car. Those flowing corners are always very challenging.

I don't know, but, obviously, there must be something nostalgic I feel every time we go there. I enjoy the weekend whatever the weather will be. At least, that is same for everybody.

Last week we tested in Silverstone. It was very blustery, so it was quite difficult to try new things. However, I feel we have made some small improvements. The car felt strong all the time.

We had a great race there last year. Obviously, I would take the same result again! But I made a slight mistake in qualifying running wide in the last corner. We missed the pole, but when you looked at Hamilton's time fuel corrected I was still quicker.

As soon as I had clean air and a clear track in the race I could really push.

Judging by the test last week it's going to be very tight between Ferrari and Mclaren once again. That is nothing new for me. Both teams have always been able to build such a good car for Silverstone.

Propably it will be down the hundredths of a second again. For sure, we will fight for the pole and this time we really have to use every inch of the circuit in our favour.

I'll do my very best to get the pole as it's easier to control things when leading as we saw in Magny-Cours.

We missed winning, but I put that behind me now. I will go into the British Grand Prix with very positive mind as I should have won in France. The team are doing all they can to make sure there is no repeat of what happened in the race at Magny-Cours.

The season is reaching the halfway point after Silverstone. There have been highs and lows for us and that's normal every year, but, obviously, we are in a good position to fight for the championship.

Hopefully we have more wins in the second part of the season as I feel Ferrari have a very good car to challenge for wins and the championship.
