A Classic – Live on Motors TV

Motors TV is ready for one of the UK’s largest historic motorsport festivals having unveiled the broadcast schedule for its Live and Exclusive coverage of the Silverstone Classic.

The ‘High Speed Television’ channel, which will screen almost 24 hours of Live and Delayed-as-Live action from the event, will kick off its Live coverage on 26 July at 9am throughout Saturday and Sunday.

As well as the two showpiece FIA Historic Formula One races, for Grand Prix cars between 1966-85, both of which will be commentated on by the legendary Murray Walker, viewers will enjoy a plethora of different types of historic racing cars in action. Races include Historic Formula Junior, Group C sportscars, the Woodcote Trophy for pre-1956 sports racers, the Mark Donohue Trophy for Invitation Porsche Cars, GT Sports & Endurance Masters, World Sportscar Masters, pre-1966 Grand Prix cars and many more.

This year’s entry has already broken all previous records, with 700 cars and 900 drivers set to take part in the nostalgia-laden event. Highlights include stunning F1 machinery from McLaren, Williams, Lotus and Ferrari as well as the famous Mercedes C9 ‘Silver Arrows’ Group C car of the late 1980s. In fact sportscars are well represented throughout the event with a range of machinery covering a full six decades between the 1920s and 1980s.

Motors TV’s Head of Programming Frédéric Viger said: “Ever since we announced our coverage of the Silverstone Classic we’ve received a huge amount of interest. Since then the entry list in every race has grown ever-more impressive and it is shaping up to be one of the best historic motorsport festivals for many years. We hope our viewers enjoy our coverage of this very special event.”
