Close Racing at Hockenheim Formula BMW

The Hockenheim Grand Prix circuit in Germany hosted rounds seven and eight of the Formula BMW Europe series, with Michael Christenson scoring Räikkönen Robertson Racing's best result with seventh in the first race from 17th on the grid. Once more the exciting series, designed to give young drivers valuable race experience, supported a Grand prix, with huge crowds watching the action-packed racing.Qualifying was close on the first visit of the series to Hockenheim, and the times were close, the first 24-drivers covered by less than a second and half. Michael was the quickest of the team's drivers, with Rupert Svendsen-Cook 18th and Carlos Huertas 25th. A storming drive from Michael in Saturday's race saw him gain ten places in the race to secure a strong finish in the top-ten, while Rupert and Carlos also moved up the order to finish 13th and 19th. On Sunday, Rupert was first home in 14th, with Carlos 18th and Michael 26th after losing time.The results see Michael second in the rookie championship, just three points behind the leader, with Carlos and Rupert seventh and 11th in the overall points table. Räikkönen Robertson Racing remain fourth in the team championship.Next rounds of the Formula BMW Europe series are at the Hungaroring on August 2nd and 3rd, supporting the Hungarian Grand Prix.
