Two days of British F3 ....

and British GT action at Silverstone

There is something for everyone when the UK’s leading single seat and sports car championships make their annual trip to Silverstone on 16/17 August.  Two days of non stop action is on offer with British F3 racing on Saturday and the first 2-hour British GT race of the 2008 season on Sunday.

Due to the long trip to Romania for the penultimate race meeting of the 2008 British F3 International Series, Rounds 17 and 18 at Silverstone will be run on Saturday 16 rather than Sunday 17 August to allow the teams to begin the three day trip across Europe.  Qualifying for the two races will take place on Friday 15 August.

The race to become the next British F3 Champion is the closest it has been for many years with Britain’s Oliver Turvey challenging Spain’s Jaime Alguersuari, Mexico’s Sergio Perez and New Zealand’s Brendon Hartley to join the ranks of Sir Jackie Stewart, Mika Hakinnen, Ayrton Senna and Nelson Piquet in winning the world’s leading Formula 3 championship.

The Silverstone meeting also features the first 2-hour Avon Tyres British GT Championship race of the 2008 season, which introduces refuelling and an open pit window which adds another dimension to the race that features cars such as the Dodge Viper, Ferrari 430, Aston Martin DBRS9 and Lamborghini Gallardo.  Round 13 of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship takes place on Sunday 17 August.

With a full support race package, the Silverstone F3/GT meeting has something for everyone.  Weekend tickets cost £20 in advance, with on the gate prices of £10 for Saturday and £20 for Sunday.  Accompanied children under 16 are free.   Tickets are available to purchase on the Silverstone website
