Ginetta Junior Championship

Daniel Lloyd is thoroughly looking forward to next weekend’s 17th and 18th rounds of the 2008 Ginetta Junior Championship at Knockhill in Scotland – the event marking the West Yorkshire driver’s maiden experience of the Fife track.Hungry for a couple of strong results to help his bid to end the season inside the top three in the driver standings, 16-year-old Daniel travels to Knockhill confident in the knowledge he has been very competitive indeed this year at other circuits he has never previously visited. With that in mind, the Scammonden based racer has high hopes of quickly adapting to the demands of the rollercoaster-like Scottish track for what could turn out to be two crucial Ginetta Junior encounters in terms of the championship battle.“Knockhill will be a totally new experience for me but I’m confident it shouldn’t take us long to adapt to the track and hopefully we’ll be able to qualify on the first couple of rows, that would be an ideal start”, commented Daniel.“It would be fantastic to get back on the podium next weekend and although we always aim high, if we can achieve two solid finishes in the top four places it’ll be a job well done. Of course, I always want to win every time I’m on track but without any prior experience of Knockhill we’re being realistic. Hopefully it’ll go really well.”Free practice ahead of the ninth event of the 2008 Ginetta Junior Championship season will take place next Friday, 15th August, with a further 15-minute session on Saturday morning, 16th August. Qualifying for rounds 17 and 18 is timetabled to follow at 14.30.Both races will be held on Sunday, 17th August, with round 17 beginning at 11.50 and round 18, which is expected to be screened live on Freeview, digital satellite and cable channel ITV4, scheduled to commence at around 15.50.Provisional 2008 Ginetta Junior Championship Positions (after Rd16):1st Dino Zamparelli, 417pts; 2nd Thomas Carnaby, 415pts; 4th Daniel Lloyd, 291pts
