LAKESIDE skipper Adam Shields is likely to miss the rest of the season after his crash at Peterborough on Thursday.The Australian suffered back, lung and rib injuries and is the third Hammers rider to be injured recently.Co-promoter Jon Cook said: "This is more than an injury crisis, it's a full-on drama. We've started talks with a couple of riders and we won't let this season slide away."

SIMON Stead suffered a broken collarbone in Coventry's win over Peterborough on Friday.Stead's engine blew on the straight in Heat 7 and he could not be avoided by team-mate ! Robbie Kessler, who has hand and arm injuries after an horrific pile-up.Bees boss Peter Oakes said: "It was a win tinged with sadness - I can't remember a season when we've lost so many riders during a meeting."
