F1 and GP2 drivers uniting

Yesterday,  during  the  Winning  Attitudes  Awards  announcement,  all  GP2  competitors  along with some F1 drivers have united to support the Gonzalo Rodriguez Memorial Foundation.

This weekend in Monza, the 2008 GP2 Series season will crown their new champion, an event celebrated by this Sunday’s Prize Giving Ceremony.

During a Pre Event held yesterday at the GP2 Series Paddock, all GP2 competitors along with Heikki Kovalainen,  Nelson  Piquet  Jr,  Mark  Webber,  Nico  Rosberg,  Kazuki  Nakajima  signed  on  huge canvases their support to the Gonzalo Rodriguez Memorial Foundation. During this short event, Canadian  artist  Bill  Patterson  created  a  painting  that  Formula  One  drivers  signed.  This  original painting  will  be  auctioned  this  Sunday  evening  at  the  GP2  Series  2008  Prize  Giving  Ceremony which will be held at the exclusive Sporting Club Monza. Moreover, the GP2 drivers all signed a big  picture  and  expressed  with  a  drawing  or  some  words  their  feelings  and  views  on  world solidarity. Their testimony will also be put up for auction on Sunday evening.

The  GP2  Series  2008  Prize  Giving  Ceremony  will  once  again  feature  the  7th  Annual  Winning Attitudes Awards (WAA), an exciting event that has become a classic season-closing celebration.

Not only does it celebrate all the protagonists of yet another breathtaking season of motor racing, but  it  also  praises  mental  strength,  talent  and  team  spirit, and at the same time it supports the Gonzalo Rodriguez Memorial Foundation (GRMF) and raises money for underprivileged children in Uruguay. The winners of the WAA will be revealed on Sunday night, together with the Gonzalo Rodriguez Special Award. This prestigious prize rewards someone that best embodies the late Uruguayan driver’s   exceptional   human   qualities.

The   prize,   an   authentic   replica   of   Maestro   Pablo Atchugarry’s magnificent marble piece – inspired by Gonzalo who passed away exactly 9 years ago  yesterday,  will  be  presented  by  Bridgestone.

Penny  Whitaker,  Charlie  Whiting  and  Giorgio Pantano have been honoured with this prize in the first three editions.
