Lockie gets Silverstone 24-hour call-up

Calum Lockie will contest the 11th 24-hour race of his career to date when he tackles the Silverstone 24-Hour race this weekend (20/21 September).Northampton-based Lockie has been invited to share a Porsche 996GT3 with Paul White, Steve Scott, and Philip Harris and believes that they can challenge for class success in his local round-the-clock endurance race."I'm absolutely delighted to be doing the race and I'm very grateful to Paul and Steve for making it possible," said Calum. "This will be my 11th 24-hour race and the third time I've done the Silverstone 24-Hours."Having finished third in class and fifth overall in 2005 and won his class in 2006, Calum is hoping for another strong result. "I think a Porsche could win the race this year through reliability. We'll play the 24-hour game and see where it comes out by Sunday afternoon."The class two Porsche is fitted with a sequential gearbox and should be a competitive proposition it its class. However, the class two entry is strong and Calum knows from experience that a slice of good luck as well as strong teamwork and quick but consistent driving all add into the final result. As well as the two Silverstone 24-hour races, Calum has raced in the 24-hour marathons at Le Mans (once), Zolder (once), Daytona (three times) and the Nurburgring (three times).
