Superleague - tough weekend for Spurs

DUNCAN TAPPY HAS DISAPPOINTING WEEKEND FOR SPURS IN GERMANY Race 1:   Qualified 11th      Finished DNF    Race 2:   Reverse grid start position 4th   Finished DNF

Qualifying didn’t go to plan when a radio problem hampered Duncan’s tyre strategy resulting in him not making the quarter finals and a sixth row grid slot. Unfortunately the weekend didn’t improve with race day. In race one Duncan was holding position in 11th. Despite a good pit-stop he hadn’t managed to gain position on his start slot. He showed his pace by setting his fastest lap of the race on his new tyres on lap 14 and was looking good for gaining ground when a mistake led to him sliding off the track. The car was undamaged but he was unable to rejoin.   Because of the race two reverse grid rule Duncan started fourth and was in a good position to take the first corner.

Andreas Zuber in the Al-Ain car made an optimistic move on the outside and turned into the Tottenham Hotspur car taking off the front wing. Duncan managed to get the car back to the pits but it wasn’t possible to make the repairs in time to rejoin the race.   Tottenham Hotspur now has 90 points and lies eighth in the championship. Duncan Tappy “That was a really disappointing weekend – especially after the fairy tale of Donington. Race one’s result was down to my mistake. I was following Zuber (Al-Ain) and I missed my turning point slightly. It was very dusty off-line and I just slid off the track. There was just no grip. Race two’s incident was avoidable though. Zuber braked stupidly late and turned into the corner and collected me. ”
