A1 Team Mexico appoint del Mediterraneo

As the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport moves forward into its fourth season, A1 Team Mexico announces that Escuderia del Mediterraneo will have in its hands the technical side of the Mexican team.

    "With the new A1GP Powered by Ferrari car the challenge for being competitive in A1GP series is even greater and because of that, naturally it was a must to make some changes in the technical organisation of A1 Team Mexico. Escuderia del Mediterraneo has the personnel with the necessary experience to take the challenge and in A1 Team Mexico we are delighted to announce that they are joining us," A1 Team Mexico spokeswoman, Rosa Elena Torres said.

    Based in Valencia, Spain, the team has more than 10 years of experience in different championships.

    In addition, Escuderia del Mediterraneo works closely with the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia in the Masters degree for motor sport engineers and carrying out wind tunnel simulation studies for single seaters and other simulation software, all of these to optimising the cars set up depending on the circuit and driver.

    The Technical Director for the Mexican Team in A1GP is Philippe Gautheron, who has experience both engineering in GP2 Series and GP2 Asia Series and serving as Team Director for A1 Team Czech Republic and A1 Team Brazil in the past. Gautheron's experience is also including LMP2 class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, F3 Euroseries, Renault Megane Trophy, World Series by Nissan and Spanish Formula 3, among others.

    Overall, the crew has experience mainly in A1GP, GP2 Series and Spanish F3. Therefore, A1 Team Mexico will have a first class group of mechanics and engineers for Season Four starting at the A1GP Zandvoort, Netherlands on 3 - 5 October.
