Idafar On Pace Ahead Of..

SILVERSTONE FINALEBritish-born Bahraini Menasheh Idafar made a good start to the final weekend of the 2008 Formula Renault BARC Championship at Silverstone National Circuit yesterday, Friday, 3rd October, with a front-running performance during pre-event testing. At the conclusion of four unofficially timed sessions of testing at the Northamptonshire venue, the 17-year-old Hillpseed racer had produced a best lap of 57.2 seconds which was within a 10th of a second of what was believed to be the best time of the day.Even though rain was forecast over the Silverstone area, sunny skies remained throughout and Menasheh made the most of the track time available with a fault-free run at the wheel of his 2.0-litre FR2000 Class car.Ahead of qualifying later today, Saturday, 4th October, and the final two races of the season on Sunday, 5th October, wet weather is expected but Hillspeed driver coach Matt Shawyer says the team is confident no matter what the conditions bring.“We enjoyed a good test, it was quite sunny and Menasheh performed well with some impressive times throughout”, commented Shawyer, “We didn’t have any problems and whether it’s wet or dry over the weekend, we should go well.”Qualifying for the 11th round of the 2008 Formula Renault BARC Championship will begin at around 09.30 this morning, Saturday, 4th October, with the round 12 session set to follow at 12.30.
