British GT Finale For Team Modena

Donington Park hosts the final round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this coming weekend, with Team Modena keen to finish the season in style with a strong finish. The team will be fielding a Lamborghini Gallardo for regular pairing Ben de Zille Butler and Guy Harrington in Sunday’s two-hour race, and in testing at Donington the duo have been right on the pace, third quickest in both of Thursday’s sessions.

“We were third quickest in both sessions,” said Guy, “the set-up we have was good, the car felt good – all in all it was a good day! We are hoping for a strong result to finish off an eventful season.”

The East Midlands circuit has only been visited by Team Modena once before to race, when they took LM GT1 Class victory in the Le Mans Series round there in 2006 with their Aston Martin DBR9. This weekend’s two-hour race concludes their 2008 British GT campaign,  and with the Gallardo having shown its pace and reliability recently in a three-hour race in the Czech Republic, hopes are high for a strong performance to round off 2008.

The Lamborghini Gallardo raced by Piers Johnson and Rachel Green at Silverstone in the penultimate round will be absent for this weekend’s meeting, the car damaged when it slammed into a wall after going off on oil when the car ahead blew its engine.

Qualifying is at 14.10 on Saturday afternoon, with the race scheduled to commence at 13.15 on Sunday.
