Christians in Motorsport Ferrari on Pole

 for Final Race

Allan Simonsen put the Christians in Motorsport Ferrari on pole for the final race of the 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship season with a time of 1m09.165 on his final lap and was congratulated by Hector Lester on his return to the pits.  Nick Foster and Nigel Redwood will line up alongside them on the front row in the Team RPM Viper, with Jeremy Metcalfe and Luke Hines in the CRS Ferrari and Guy Harrington and Ben de Zille Butler in the Team Modena Lamborghini on row 2.  GT4 champions Matt Nicol-Jones and Stewart Linn claimed another class pole ahead of Joe Osborne and Phil Bailey.

Tom Ferrier in the Tech9 Lamborghini set the early pace but was soon demoted by James Sutton in the CRS Ferrari and then by Nick Foster in the Team RPM Viper in quick succession.  However Ferrier wasn't going to give up that easily and bounced to the top of the times for the third time with a 1m11.084 just 0.9 seconds ahead of Michael Bentwood’s 22GTRacing Aston Martin.

Meanwhile Allan Simonsen had taken to the track in the CiM Ferrari and posted a 1m11.114 second lap just behind Ferrier.  Nick Foster became the first driver to set a 1m 10 second lap to go back into provisional pole position before Simonsen crossed the line again to push Foster back to second with a 1m09.853.  Foster was still flying and the Viper stopped the clock with a 1m09.420 to go back ahead of Simonsen with Guy Harrington putting the Team Modena Lamborghini at the head of row 2 with a 1m09.909.

The times then settled for the next five minutes before Luke Hines made a bid for a front row start, moving into 2nd with a 1m09.847 and then improving that time by another 0.06 seconds a lap later.  However as the chequered flag approached Allan Simonsen put in a last gasp lap and went back to the top of the times with a 1m09.165.  Guy Harrington also improved his time on the last lap and the Team Modena Lamborghini Gallardo will line up on row 2 alongside the No16 CRS Ferrari for the final race of the year.

Round 14 will take place on Sunday 12 October at 13:15.
