Elise Trophy Latest News

Lotus Cup Europe 2009

The 2009 Lotus Cup Europe race series will be run by LoTRDC (Lotus on Track Racing Drivers Club), who currently run the Elise Trophy with Motorsport Vision Racing.

The provisional calendar includes races at Donington Park, Le Mans or Zolder, Zandvoort, Brands Hatch, Dijon and Spa Francorchamps.

Elise Trophy class re-structure for 2009

The Elise Trophy is in its second season and regularly attracts double grids of 60+ cars. This has been boosted in 2008 by entries from the successful 2-Eleven model which have been given their own class.

Currently Class A for standard production cars have their own grid at most rounds and produce extremely close and exciting racing. With a huge difference in power between the current B/211 cars up to heavily modified class C cars a decision has been made to drop class C for 2009 and replace B with a modified class based on 2008 Class B regs. This should ensure much closer racing in the 2nd grid similar to that in Class A and will hopefully lead to full grids in those classes.

The proposed Elise Trophy classes for 2009 are:

Production – will replace class A with no changes from 2008 and currently over 50 cars competing. Modified – will run to similar regs to 2008 class B, with class C cars being eligible if they reduce their maximum power, this is expected to increase competition and reliability. 2-Eleven – will compete in the same races as Modified. Two separate grids (Production and Modified/2-Eleven) will feature at most rounds in 2009.

In addition LoTRDC will run Lotus Cup Europe in 2009 for Lotus Cars Ltd. Competitors from Lotus Cup Europe will combine grids with the Elise Trophy at a number of rounds ensuring that some events will see 70-80 cars competing.
