Rockingham Winter race series

MOTOR racing fans are being offered the chance to make the most of the shorter winter days at Rockingham, after the Northamptonshire circuit announced an additional race meeting for its calendar.

The circuit is just one of two venues which will be hosting the BARC National Championship as part of the British Automobile Racing Club’s winter race series. The Rockingham round will take place on Saturday, November 8.

Fans will have the chance to see some of the UK’s most promising young racing drivers in action. Fresh from supporting the British Touring Car Championship the Formula Renault and Renault Clio championships will be racing as well as the Ginetta Juniors and Ginetta 950.

Rockingham Director, Charlotte Orton, said: “We are delighted to be hosting one of the two BARC National Championship race meetings for the first time. This event promises to provide some excellent racing action – so there is no excuse for staying indoors this winter.”

Qualifying will get the proceedings underway before the heat is turned up as the teams and their drivers battle it out to see who will finish highest on the podium in eight thrilling wheel-to-wheel encounters on Rockingham’s International Super Sports Car circuit.

Fans will not be restricted to the grandstand area as there will be an opportunity to watch the racing from the top of the pit garages and get close to the action with an open paddock.

Adult race day admission costs just £10, while children aged 15 and under get in free. Tickets can be purchased on the gate or booked in advance at rockingham.co.uk or 0871 231 0846.
