(SPEEDWAY 1) BELLE Vue chief David Gordon insists Belle Vue are determined to challenge for honours - despite the loss of top man Jason Crump.The double world champion is to sit out British racing next season to cut down his schedule. Said Gordon: "This will enable us to put a new complexion on our team next season and to assemble a more balanced side and to challenge for honours."

(SPEEDWAY 2) SWINDON boss Alun Rossiter insists British clubs are in a better position than many in other leagues.  And he believes some of the criticism levelled at the sport in this countryis unfair.He said: "On the surface it might seem like the Swedish and Polish leagues are in a better state, but the fact riders are owed six figure sums in these leagues suggests otherwise."
