Horne takes Carrera Cup coaching role

for Team Parker Racing Former champion Barry Horne will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2009 when he takes on a driver-coaching role for Team Parker Racing.Horne was the inaugural Carrera Cup GB champion in 2003 when he raced for Stuart Parker's team, and he has maintained strong links with the team ever since. Now, having raced in Germany over the last two seasons, Horne has accepted an invitation to act as a driver coach across the team's four-car squad."We go back a few years," said Horne of the team, having raced Caterhams very successfully with Team Parker Racing before stepping up to the Carrera Cup GB. "We had something like 38 podiums from 40 races in Caterhams and the Carrera Cup in 2002 and 2003."Now, Horne's extensive experience will be put to good use by Team Parker Racing as the team chases a fourth drivers' title as well as defending it's 2008 team championship crown."I'm really looking forward to it," said Horne, who spends much of his working week as a driving consultant at the Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone. "It will be good to work with the young guys and help nurture the next crop of Carrera Cup racers."
