Carrera Cup enjoys records crowds

More people than even before saw the action in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB during 2008 as a total audience of 325,000 attended the 10 rounds of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.As a permanent support race to the BTCC, the Carrera Cup benefited from continued massive growth in race day attendances as the season's live audience grew by an impressive 21% over the 2007 figures. In turn, the 2007 crowds were up 20% on the 2006 levels.Figures released by the BTCC media office underline the fantastic appeal of the BTCC race days, which now rival many major Premier League football matches.The biggest crowd of the season was at Oulton Park in Cheshire when a massive 35,000 fans visited the track to make it the venue's biggest event of the decade.
