Quartermaine commits to Carrera Cup

John Quartermaine is the latest driver to reveal plans to race in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2009. The seasoned saloon car racer has acquired the car raced by Tony Gilham in 2008 and plans to challenge for the pro-am1 category.The Ascot-based racer has three decades of experience behind him and has won a range of championship and races since his first race in 1977. His first taste of the Carrera Cup came when he raced the VIP pro-am2 car early in 2008."Since driving the guest car at Donington I knew exactly what I wanted to do for 2009," said Quartermaine. "Having raced for some while in the VW Cup now is the right time to try something a lot more serious."Quartermaine confirmed his plans following a test in the Gilham car at the recent Carrera Cup sampler day at Silverstone. "Currently the car is being tided up before I undertake further testing." Backers for the campaign will include Quartermaine's own company, Future Events.
