Bird flies Noble flag in Macau

Sam Bird will enter the Macau Grand Prix this weekend courtesy of The Noble Group,  the  global raw materials supply chain manager .  The company is based in Hong Kong and is a familiar face at the Macau Grand Prix.

The prestigious race enters its 55th year with a highly competitive F3 field from around the world, including most of the frontrunners from the Japanese,  British and Euro Series, as well as a representative from Spanish F3 and Formula Nippon.

The weekend kicks off on Thursday with just half an hour of practice prior to a qualifying session that afternoon.  That same format repeats itself on Friday, with the qualifying race on Saturday at 13.45 local time (5.45am UK) and the actual 55th Macau Grand Prix on Sunday at 15.30 (7.30am UK)

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time here last year and ended up sixth overall and top rookie", said Sam.  "This year I would like to go one better and win the race outright! However, street races are unpredictable and you need a slice of good fortune to go all the way, so you have to be quick, consistent, patient and stay out of trouble!"

"I’m very grateful to The Noble Group for giving me the opportunity to show what I can do in this competitive environment, and for including me in their hospitality plans with their guests. It sounds like a great weekend in prospect.”

The race will be shown, along with supporting races, on Motors TV on Sunday afternoon, starting at 2pm UK time.
