Formula Asia 2.0, Beche to rejoin ART

 for the season’s last breath

Having driven for the team in the last season, Mathias Beche-Aussel is set to rejoin Asia Racing Team (ART) Motorsports for the Formula Asia 2.0’s last breath.

The 22 years old Swiss driver, who is currently 2nd in the championship, will now rejoin the Macanese Zhuhai based team for the grand finale of the season – extending a relationship with Team Manager Philippe Descombes that started when Beche made the switch from karts to cars with ART Motorsports.

Felix Rosenqvist still leads the Championship with 155 points, 45 points ahead of Beche but there are still 100 points up for grabs at Shanghai International Circuit. The Swedish advantage looks comfortable but ART Motorsports and the driver have reasons to believe, and the overall goal is to win the championship.

Last year Beche celebrated his first single seater victory behind the wheel of an ART Motorsports’ car in the home of Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix and repeated the success in Race 1 of the past weekend Formula Asia 2.0 Non-Championship Round. ART Motorsports arrives to the last meeting after an astonishing one-two-three sweep at Bira Circuit and Shanghai International Circuit.

Commenting on his return, Beche said, “I very glad to rejoin ART and met Philippe Descombes again. Philippe is more than a Team Manager for me. He knows me so well, and he has a huge experience in this car. I'm sure we will be a strong pair. I hope to share my experience with the rest of the team to target a top result in the five last races. I prepared myself a lot in Europe and I'm now ready for the challenge. I think we had a promising start last weekend at Shanghai”.

ART Motorsports Team Principal, Philippe Descombes commented "I'm delighted to be able to confirm Mathias. He started his single seater career with ART and he drove for us last year and his performance was almost flawless. Of course he is a bit far from Felix in the championship points and we need luck to win the series. We will do everything we can do to force that luck to happen”.

The Formula Asia 2.0 series will now head to Shanghai, China for season finale on 5-6-7 December 2008.
