Formula 2000 Summer Series, Scheduled at Some of the Most Popular Racetracks in North America

Skip Barber Racing School LLC today announced its 2009Formula 2000 Summer Series schedule, a 14-race championship that begins in early May.Driven by competitor response, this season the Midwestern and Eastern Race Series havebeen combined into the largest amateur race series in North America. All races will becontested in identical Skip Barber Formula 2000 single-seat racecars.

“Over the last few years we have conducted several combined events within our variousregional race series and the feedback from competitors has been very favorable,” saidSkip Barber vice president of racing Todd Snyder. “By combining our Eastern andMidwestern Series our drivers will now compete at many of the best racetracks NorthAmerica has to offer. This new Summer Series also provides drivers with morecompetition, more awards, and more fun,” Snyder added.

The 2009 Summer Series opens at Virginia International Raceway in early May andconcludes at Lime Rock Park in October with the inaugural Skip Barber Festival ofSpeed where it will join the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda andthe MAZDASPEED Challenge Summer Series for their respective season finales.In between are events at historic tracks like Watkins Glen International, Road Americaand a perennial favorite among series drivers: Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Quebec,Canada. All seven Skip Barber Formula 2000 Summer Series race weekends include tworaces per weekend, plus practice, qualifying, Skip Barber coaching and hospitalityservices. The series offers both a Championship group and a Masters group for driversover 40 years old.

Now in its 34th year, the Skip Barber Race Series is the largest and oldest continuouslyoperating open-wheel “arrive and drive” amateur championship in North America. Eachyear, hundreds of drivers take part in exciting, fun and hassle-free open-wheel racing inidentically-prepared formula cars.
