Millroy Sixth For Motaworld

 in BMW World Final

Motaworld Racing managed a stunning result in yesterday’s Formula BMW World Final at Mexico City where Surrey teenager Ollie Millroy drove the squad’s single-seater to a strong sixth place.

Hot on the heels of Motaworld’s sensational Formula BMW Pacific wins in Shanghai and Macau this latest result against the world’s best was just reward for all the hard work put in by the team, which is based at Chatham, Kent.

Alan Waite, owner of Motaworld Racing said “That’s a good result against the world’s best teams and drivers. It’s just a shame that there was no other driver close enough for Ollie to draft with.”

Top six places for Millroy in all three qualifying heats put him in fifth place on the grid for the all-important Final. With a Formula One drive at stake for the winner Millroy pulled out all the stops and moved up to second place at one stage until he was swamped by a bunch of drivers who were slipstreaming each other down the straights.

Afterwards the British MSA Race Elite Academy driver explained “On this circuit, with its long straight and high altitude, the race could have gone two ways. If I had had someone to work with in the race, it could have been a different story but it didn’t work out like that so there wasn’t a lot more I could do. When I got up to second place I really thought I could get a result but to be honest I think for Motaworld and me to come here, after the year both of us had in the European Championship and perform the way we did, we have to be happy.

He added “The team have worked hard and done a good job for me these last couple of months and I am happy that we did a good job again this weekend.”

RESULT: 1 Alexander Rossi (Eurointernational) 2 Michael Christensen (Josef Kaufmann Racing)  3 Esteban Gutiérrez (Josef Kaufmann Racing) 4 Daniel Juncadella   (Eurointernational) 5 Jazeman Jaafar (Eifelland Racing) 6 Ollie Millroy ( Motaworld Racing)
