Andrew Jordan signs for VX Racing

Triple British Touring Car Champions VX Racing have signed up-and-coming touring car driver Andrew Jordan for its 2009 assault on the national championship. After securing all three titles last season, VX Racing is intent on continuing its domination in ’09.

Nineteen-year-old Jordan is making the move to VX Racing after finishing 13th overall in the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), where he competed alongside his father, Mike Jordan, with John Guest Racing. Jordan Junior secured one overall podium and two Independent wins in his maiden BTCC season, impressing VX Racing with his mature approach and turn of speed on-track.

“It’s really exciting to be driving for Vauxhall,” said Jordan. “I know it will be hard but I am excited by the challenge, especially considering the quality of my team mates! Both Fabrizio and Matt have a huge amount of experience, so I will be asking quite a few questions. At 19, I know I still have a lot to learn.

“Although I am hoping for a couple of wins this year, I know how important it is to be a good team player, so the main goal will be to score as many points as possible for the team,” added Jordan.

“We are delighted to have Andrew join the VX Racing family for 2009,” said Stuart Harris, VX Racing’s Brand Manager. “He has already demonstrated that he has the talent and potential to be a fantastic racing driver; he will really fit in with the team. VX Racing had a fantastic season last year, winning the Drivers’, Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championships; we want to continue this stream of success in 2009 and take home all three titles once again.”

Jordan will start his campaign for the BTCC title at the season-opener, held at Brands Hatch, Kent, on Sunday 5 April 2009.
