Mundill Racing signs Anders Krohn

 for 2009 Star Mazda Championship

Anders Krohn is happy to announce that he will return to North America for the 2009-season where he will be racing for Texas-based Mundill Racing in the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear.

“It’s a dream come true to be able to compete in the Star Mazda Championship with Mundill. We worked very well together when I tested for the team earlier this month, and I can’t wait to get started!” said an excited Anders Krohn

The Norwegian racing driver who has earned the name “The Viking”, won last year’s U.S. Formula 2000 Championship in a dominating fashion, taking nine wins in 14 races. The Star Mazda Championship has 13 races over 11 weekends, and will have races on Ovals, Street-courses and Road-courses. The car features a 1.3 liter Mazda “Renesis” rotary engine that produces 250 bhp, and with a weight of only 1090 lbs/490 kgs, it makes for a very fast open-wheel racing car.

Mundill Racing was created in 2007 by David Mundy and Jeff Hill. The team has had an impressive growth the last two seasons, and they are excited to have Anders’ as one of their drivers for the 2009-season.

"Anders drove extremely well in testing and was fast and consistent. We are very excited about having a driver of Anders' caliber driving with Mundill. We were very impressed not just by Anders' speed, but by his professionalism and his ability to accurately communicate what the car needed to the team.” Said Team principal David Mundy

Going into his second season of racing in North America, Anders knows some of the tracks the Star Mazda calendar has on offer, but has never before driven on an Oval circuit.

“I love new challenges, and being able to drive for Mundill is a great step forward for my career. I’ll be facing some new elements this season, but I feel confident in doing a good job with the support of Mundill and my two main sponsors, Trallfa Industries and Colosseum Dental. My goal has always been to win races no matter where or what I drive, and I will do my best to make sure I apply that to this season as well.” Ended Krohn

The first official test for the Star Mazda Championship will be held on January 27-28 at Sebring International Raceway in Florida, and Round 1 of the highly competitive series will be held at the very same track on March 20.
