Possible return to Carrera Cup

for Jota Sport

Race-winning Carrera Cup GB team, Jota Sport, are investigating a return to the prestigious one-make series in 2009 for an all-out attack on the title following their impressive debut season in which they finished second overall in the eagerly contested teams’ championship.

The Kent-based outfit’s two drivers Sam Hancock and Phil Quaife together netted three race wins, 13 other podiums and three pole positions in the British Touring Car Championship support series last year and enjoyed arguably the strongest reliability record of the field.

Although no drivers are yet confirmed, the team are currently in talks with a number of candidates and hope to run up to three Porsche 911 GT3s this season.

Team Principal Sam Hignett said: “We’re delighted at the prospect of returning to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2009. It’s an outstanding championship and this year looks set to be a very strong season judging by the amount of interest out there. We’re certainly very keen to build on our successes to date.”
