Ben Launches Mille Miglia Rally

BEN, the automotive industry charity has a limited number of places still available for the unique Mille Miglia Rally- the ultimate experience in driving challenges- driving from England to Italy in 10 days following the famous route that was established back in 1927. This is the second rally following the success of the Trafalgar Square to Red Square Rally held in the summer of 2007.

The event starts on Saturday 20 June with participants making their way to the Euro tunnel to start the journey to Italy. Once in France you will head down via Belgium and Luxembourg with the finishing line in Florence where you can take in the breathtaking views and culture.

You and your 'co-pilot' will form a team tackling over xxxx km of open road, putting those driving skills to the test along the Italian roads. And if this was not challenging enough, there will be treasure hunts, checkpoints and a host of other adventures to keep you busy along the way. This is not just restricted to cars or motorbikes if you are looking for a real challenge, how about an ice cream van? (It could be quite profitable if the weather is hot.)

Chief Executive of the SMMT and President of BEN, Christopher MacGowan, will be joining the convey of vehicles in his motor home. He also took part on the London to Moscow rally, he commented: "The rally is a thrilling and challenging trip that raises money for BEN. In the last rally I drove a Volkswagen California camper and the whole experience was exhilarating and I am looking forward to the Mille Miglia rally and I would encourage anyone to take part if they enjoy a driving challenge with magnificent views."

Each day participants will receive a detailed briefing and recommended route.

You must navigate to the final evening destination, but it's not a race. We are keeping this 'top secret' but it could range from visiting certain photo points, to collecting local 'souvenirs'.

Simply raise £4,000 per car (2 people) and £2,500 per motorcycle. Complete and return the registration form along with your deposit and this will ensure your entry for this exclusive challenge. The rally includes: return crossing from Dover to Calais, all accommodation, breakfast, and evening meals on driving days. In addition on receipt of your registration form BEN will provide you with a detailed fundraising booklet to set you off in the right direction. The AA has kindly agreed to sponsor this event with roadside recovery if needed.
